At The Silos Accommodation, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to provide guests with a luxury escape that celebrates the beauty of the land while minimising our environmental footprint and contributing to climate resilience.

Our Commitments

1. Off-Grid and Low-Impact Design

·       The Silos has been crafted from a repurposed 1960s Lysaght grain silo, giving new life to existing materials.

·       Our accommodation operates entirely off-grid, powered by solar energy and efficient waste systems. With out the use of gas appliances or utilities.

2. Emissions Reduction

·       We use energy-efficient appliances, LED lighting, and insulation to reduce power consumption.

·       Guest amenities, including our wood-fired hot tub, are responsibly managed with sustainable practices such as resetting and cleaning services that reduce unnecessary resource use.

·       We prioritise local supply chains, sourcing food, coffee, beer and wine from nearby producers to cut transport emissions and support the regional economy.

3. Waste and Resource Management

·       Recycling and composting systems are in place to minimise landfill contributions.

·       A worm septic system is installed which aid with the composting of food waste.

·       Single-use plastics have been replaced with refillable, eco-friendly alternatives, for our kitchen and bathroom amenities.

·       Water efficiency is achieved through low-flow fixtures and rainwater collection.

4. Climate Resilience and Education

·       As a sixth-generation working sheep and cropping property, we actively engage in regenerative farming practices that improve soil health and sequester carbon.

·       Guests are invited to join “Meet the Farmer” tours, where they can learn about sustainable agriculture and climate-smart land management.

5. Our Ongoing and Future Goals

·       Measure and track carbon emissions to identify further reduction opportunities.

·       Increase investment in regenerative agriculture practices to enhance biodiversity and carbon capture.

·       Expand guest education initiatives to inspire climate-conscious travel and lifestyles.

·       Our annual tree planting program sees a tree planted for every night booked.
